MEET FERNANDO

Meet Fernando Valdez, Jr.

Fernando Valdez, Jr. is a longtime Washington Township resident, retired electronic technician, husband, and father of two adult daughters. He and his wife have called Washington Township home since 1999, where they built their life around family, hard work, and community.

Fernando spent his career solving complex technical problems and holding himself accountable for results. He began as a systems engineer with IBM in Poughkeepsie, New York, working on large mainframe computer systems. Over the years, he worked across a wide range of electronic environments, including mini-computer systems, terminal and peripheral repair, and ultimately industrial electronic and control systems. He retired in 2020, but remains deeply engaged in the work he has always valued—understanding how things work, diagnosing problems, and fixing them the right way.

That problem-solving mindset defines who Fernando is. He believes in careful analysis, practical solutions, and personal responsibility—values he applies to every part of his life.

Outside of his professional background, Fernando stays active and connected to his community. He enjoys hiking, road and mountain biking, and riding his motorcycle. He has a long-standing interest in amateur astronomy and is an avid beekeeper. Fernando and his wife sell honey at local farmers markets during the late summer and early fall. They also enjoy RV camping throughout Michigan, appreciating the state’s natural beauty and the communities that make it home.

Fernando Valdez, Jr. is not a career politician. He is a neighbor, a problem-solver, and someone who believes integrity, honesty, and accountability still matter. He is running to represent everyday people with the same principles he has lived by his entire life.
